The Jungle Biome is the one biome you get in every 99 Nights in the Forest run. You can reach it once the campfire hits level 3, and you will know you are inside when the grass turns darker and big tropical plants appear.
It is packed with loot and traps: a frog boss behind a door that needs eight keys, a temple that collapses behind you, and arena pits full of cultists. It is also home to the Cat, one of the hardest-hitting monsters in the game.
What to do in the Jungle Biome
| Spot | What it needs | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Frog Cave | 8 Frog Keys, then a pond whirlpool | Frog King fight, poison armour and frog gear |
| Ancient Temple | Clear the Jungle Cultists, survive the dart traps | Tier 2 chest, Poison Claws, Blow Pipe, Crystal Skull Key |
| Fight Pit | Press the red button, clear every wave | Jungle Chest, coin stacks, Poison Claws or Poison Armor |
| Jungle structures | Nothing, just find them | Free survival loot and weapons |
The Cat can show up after day 4. If you see a red circle on the ground, move: that is where it lands.
How to unlock the Jungle Biome
- Upgrade the campfire to level 3. The jungle becomes reachable during your run.
- Push the fire higher to open the rest of the biome.
- Look for darker grass, broad-leaf plants and jungle-only mobs to know you are inside.
- Craft the Map for 3 wood first so you can see the jungle border.
See how the jungle fits with the other biomes in our map guide.
Frog Cave and Frog Keys
- 1
Wait until frogs appear, usually between day 3 and day 5.
- 2
Fish in ponds for Frog Keys. Large blue frogs guarding ponds also drop them, but less often.
- 3
Collect all 8 Frog Keys.
- 4
Jump into the large whirlpool in a pond to teleport to the hidden cave.
- 5
Put all eight keys into the green door, then fight the frog waves and the Frog King.
The Frog King poisons you. Bring ranged weapons and anything that resists poison. The chest on the left after the fight holds frog gear and rare materials.
Ancient Temple and the Crystal Skull Key
- Find the stone pyramid with big staircases. Each run has one.
- Clear the Jungle Cultists on the top platform, then loot its chest.
- Go down the stairs and through the corridor of poison dart traps.
- Take the Crystal Skull Key from the altar. This sets off arrow traps and starts the temple collapsing.
- Run straight for the rope exit. You cannot go back in after you leave.
Temple loot can include jungle chests, Tier 2 chests, coal and fuel, Poison Claws and a Blow Pipe.
Fight Pits (Jungle Pits)
- Fight Pits are stone, colosseum-style arenas.
- Press the red button inside to start.
- Jungle Cultists come in waves. Each wave gives loot when it is cleared.
- Beat the final wave to unlock the chest: a Jungle Chest, coin stacks and jungle gear such as Poison Claws and Poison Armor.
Jungle enemies and how to counter them
| Enemy | HP | How to deal with it |
|---|---|---|
| The Cat | Cannot be killed | Appears after day 4 in about 1 in 3 jungle runs. Watch for its red landing circle and retreat to camp |
| Frog | 70 (5 damage + poison) | Stationary; hit it from the side or from range |
| Boar | 125 | Charges on sight; dodge sideways and use ranged weapons |
| Jungle Cultist | 120 | Melee and ranged; use cover and clear them fast |
| Mossy Mammoth | 800 | Passive unless attacked; leave it alone unless you are ready |
