99 Nights in the Forest Snow Biome Guide
How to beat the cold, crack the Ice Temple and turn feathers into an Ice Bow, without freezing on the way.
- ~50% of runs
- 15 feathers = Ice Bow
- Ice Axe opens the Temple
- Checked Oct 24, 2026
The Snow Biome is the white part of the 99 Nights in the Forest map. It shows up in about half of all runs; the other half get the Volcanic Biome instead.
It is one of the toughest areas in the game. A freeze meter drains while you are in the cold, polar bears hit hard, and the best loot is locked in ice. Get the order right and it pays off with gem fragments, Cultist Gems and the Ice Bow.
What to do in the Snow Biome
- 1
Ring the Bell Tower first. It slows the freeze meter for the rest of the run.
- 2
Open every Ice Chest until one drops an Ice Axe.
- 3
Use the Ice Axe in the Ice Temple to break the frozen beam and the treasure ice.
- 4
Collect Feathers and hand them in at the Owl’s Nest, 5 per reward.
- 5
Hunt arctic foxes and polar bears from range for warm clothing pelts.
Bring a rifle and your best armour. Polar bears have about 500 HP and hit for 50.
How the cold works
- A freeze meter drains while you are in the Snow Biome. When it gets low, you move slower.
- Breaking ice with a normal axe drops your core temperature fast and stops you sprinting.
- Warm clothing slows the temperature drop. Craft it from snow animal pelts.
- Ringing the Bell Tower slows the freeze meter for the rest of the run.
- The campfire still warms you, so plan short trips and head back to camp to recover.

FAQs About the 99 Nights in the Forest Snow Biome
How do you get to the Snow Biome?
It is part of the map in about half of runs. Craft the Map for 3 wood and look for the white area. If your run has the Volcanic Biome, there is no Snow Biome that run.
How do you melt the ice in the Ice Temple?
Use an Ice Axe. A normal axe works on small ice but lowers your temperature fast and cannot break the large frozen beam.
Where do you get the Ice Axe?
It drops randomly from Ice Chests around the Snow Biome, so open every one you find.
How many feathers does the Owl’s Nest need?
5 Feathers per reward, 15 in total for all three rewards.
How do you stop freezing?
Wear warm clothing, ring the Bell Tower and return to the campfire to warm up.
Is the Owl dangerous in the Snow Biome?
At night, yes. Stand still during its stealth check and keep a flashlight ready. The Owl at the Owl’s Nest is passive.
Conclusion
Ring the Bell Tower, farm Ice Chests for the Ice Axe, then clear the Ice Temple and the Owl’s Nest. Fight polar bears from range and keep warm clothing on.
